Toss in one of these and you will have a really nice computer that wont play wow at ultra, but at least let you play it the way it was intended to be played. To be 100% honest theres still a market for the parts you have in your computer.
I don't need really high performance, I just want to be able to play the game. You only have a gig of ram so I guess you need to start there. Anything is better than the onboard you are running, but realistically you need something around the AMD 5450 or Nvidia 430 range to even start to think about it.
Another gig and you are scraping the bare minimum you need to just run the game. 3- Your 250w psu probably wont even run those 2 cards I mentioned above. Most of those old Dells have proprietary motherboards or cases that require you get a new power supply directly from Dell (if ones even available..
You could probably sell your old setup for $75-100 locally and pay for 1/3 of that upgrade. There are tons of guides on youtube that will go through it with you step by step.
"Holybuckets May 17, 2010 - PM :your 3s team rating is amazing, is there any way you could write something up or make a video from the holy pally perspective?
This one appears to be decent and I should be able to slap a new video card and some upgrades in it. It will at least hold me over for 6 months or so until I can buy my dream rig.
Hello, I am currently trying to upgrade my inspiron 530's cpu.
I was just wondering if someone could look at my system specs and tell me how to eek the most performance out of this 4 year old PC. yes I know my computer is old and not really a high end gaming system lol.
Dell Inspiron 530 BIOS: Phoenix - Award BIOS v6.00PG Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU E2180 @ 2.00GHz (2 CPUs) Memory: 1014MB RAM Display: Intel(R) G33/G31 Express Chipset Family Yeah, thats what I figured heh.
And I'm guessing this will be an additonal expense (as will a new monitor, mouse, keyboard, etc).
EDIT: Been looking around at premade Dell systems since I already have a decent dell monitor.
Really, any money you spend on this computer will be wasted. your computer was a budget computer when they built it).
