I'd be intersted to hear what you think that horrible disaster would entail.

I've never been one to visit many different forums. Unless you're living in an English speaking high population area your chances of even having other members near you is pretty slim. Considering we still "need" a "Women & Gaming" forum, I'm not sure if this kind of interaction is in the "sure, sign me up for that" category for a lot female members...
So being able to do this "from the comfort" of my own BGG profile would be enticing. Another problem would be user complaints about various "non-traditional" dating ads, e.g.
I think a dating site for gamers would be interesting, but I'm not sure it would be a success. Fine if people want a dating site away from BGG but to have it HERE, ultimately, you'll have a lot of people who are driven away from the site because of some nasty experience or another.
It could be a big distraction for many who participate.
Even on mainstream dating sites there is so much potential for bad stuff from the typical married people posing as single and available, to connections that start off with legitimate interest and fizzle out only to have one party or the other be resentful and then become spiteful stalkers or whatever..knows what that could entail?
If you decided someone was not your cup of tea, what's to stop them from hounding you all over the forums here and following up your every comment with something malicious or just making your life miserable?Part of me thinks a forum for gamers to find romance with other gamers here on the geek would be an awesome idea, and part of me thinks it would be a horrific disaster. I understand the attraction of the idea, but if I were running BGG I would NOT entertain such an idea.Come to think of it, are there any dating sites that cater for boardgamers out there? It could lead to some unfortunate and ugly behavior that could taint a user's overall enjoyment of BGG.This sort of thing happens already on BGG to female users, and it clearly (to put it clinically and mildly) reduces their overall satisfaction with BGG. I dont want some 30-something guy who play games and acts geeky. Then I thought to myself "Be careful what you wish for, young lady..."Fast forward a couple of years and I now have a woman who play boardgames at a competitive levels that would scare away most guys.A "BGG romance forum" I think might exacerbate this. We also play PC-games online and she yells at me and calls me a noob for dying in Black ops 2 Zombies.2 members" data-delay="0" data-placement="bottom" data-original-title="Harry Potter: Magical Skies (Harry Potter)" title="" alt="" href="/groups/harry-potter-magical-skies-harry-potter" style="vertical-align:bottom;"154 members" data-delay="0" data-placement="bottom" data-original-title="Harry Potter Paperback Box Set (Books 1-7)" title="" alt="" href="/groups/harry-potter-paperback-box-set-books-1-7" style="vertical-align:bottom;"Nerd Passions gives people who are part of the Nerd community a place to find one another.
